Zigong Hosts Investment Promotion Conference for Hong Kong and Macao Institutions and Business Associations established in Sichuan
On the morning of February 28, the "Salt City Links with Hong Kong and Macao · Win New Track with Zigong " Investment Promotion Conference for Hong Kong and Macao Institutions and Business Associations established in Sichuan was held in Zigong. Representatives from over 20 Hong Kong and Macao institutions and business associations in Sichuan, including the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in Sichuan, Bank of East Asia, and Guancheng Group, attended the event. During the conference, Zigong City presented its investment environment and opportunities, highlighting its regional advantages, industrial development, and policy benefits. The event served as a bridge for deeper cooperation between Zigong and Hong Kong-Macao regions. Moving forward, both sides will strengthen exchanges, explore new collaborative opportunities, and contribute to high-quality regional economic development.
Economic Output of Sichuan’s 39 Less-Developed Counties Surpasses CNY 300 billion
On March 13, the Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Statistics released economic data for 2024 regarding the province’s 39 less-developed counties. Overall, these counties demonstrated significantly enhanced internal growth momentum, with their combined GDP exceeding CNY 300 billion, marking a 6.1% year-on-year increase and accounting for 4.9% of the province’s total. Among them, 10 counties achieved a GDP of over CNY 10 billion, while four surpassed CNY 20 billion. The economic performance of these regions exhibited a stable and progressive trend.
Sichuan’s Foreign Trade Import and Export Grow 5.9% Year on Year in First Two Months
On March 18, Chengdu Customs released statistics showing that Sichuan’s foreign trade import and export volume reached CNY 166.27 billion in the first two months, ranking eighth nationwide and first in central and western China, with a 5.9% year-on-year increase. Mechanical and electrical products remained the primary driver of both exports and imports. Notably, the electronic information industry stands as the pillar sector with the strongest innovation capabilities and industrial foundation in the Sichuan-Chongqing region. In recent years, rapid development in integrated circuits, new display technologies, and smart devices has propelled the Chengdu-Chongqing area into the global top ten for electronic information manufacturing clusters. Additionally, Sichuan’s specialty products, such as fish oil, lemons have accelerated their global presence, leading the nation in export volume for these categories.
